Midnight Feast
Here's an illustration I worked on for the July issue of Virgin Voyeur - Virgin Airline's in-flight magazine. It was to illustrate an article about Flash Mob Foodies - the phenomenon started in San Francisco as a way for food geeks to get together and sell their wares without the fees – health permits and liability insurance – It has grown into a kind of indie movement and spread as far afield as London and Amsterdam.
This is the first time I have illustrated a night-time scene so I had to come up with a way of making it look like it was late at night. The majority of my work is hand-drawn so instead of colouring over the drawing I decided to overlay a dark blue layer in photoshop after I had finished the illustration.
Here's a day time version:
All this talk of food is making me hungry...luckily I'm off out for Vietnamese tonight with some friends :-)
Have a lovely weekend everyone and hopefully I'll be picking up my pen this weekend as I've seen some beautiful inspirational art from my fave Aussie artists Kelly Smith & Bec Winnel.

You Gotta Pick a Pocketto
As a long time reader of Pocketto's online magazine, it's very exciting to see editors Emma and Aimée have taken their concept to print, creating a bi-annual fashion, arts & culture publication. We're often told never to judge a book by its cover, but it's hard not to when it is a bit of a beauty - gold embossed lettering & crisp white hard-back covers, simple yet stunning and definitely a collectable! Buy online or at your local bookstore!
Pocketto Magazine will be celebrating the launch of edition 1 at No Vacancy Gallery this Friday night. So if you live in Melbourne get your goodself down there! Shame I'm super busy at work & live in Sydney as I would have loved to to join in the fun. Can you believe I have been to Melbourne three times for work and never had time to look around?!
(above: shoe illustrations featured in Pocketto's online magazine)These are some of my illustrations that feature in the first printed issue - we went with the plainer illustrations that sit perfectly with the feel of the magazine. I thought I would also show you some of the coloured versions as I don't often work with colour.
We want to gather and share with you everything that make our hearts beat wildly, bring butterflies to our stomach and excite us to the bone.

Last Chance
Hello! Here's some ladies I've been working on recently. I've thoroughly enjoyed drawing the intricate lines. Hope you like them! It's going to be raining all weekend here in Sydney so I think it's going to be a great excuse to stay in and draw. Anyways as you may know I have entered the KIT Design Awards - there's just under 2 days left to vote so if you haven't already please vote for me here & tell all your friends!

Goldfish
Hello! Here's a new piece I was working on today - seem to have got my creative patterny streak back which I'm thoroughly enjoying. Did you all have a great weekend? We've just come back from a short stay in our holiday home on the central coast (aka as Darren's sister's lovely home) The in-laws have just got back from their 6 week holiday to Indonesia & Vietnam so we all got together for a belated birthday dinner for Darren.
We got some lovely presents - me, a nice red shawl wrap, a wooden carved box with chopsticks, beautifully embroidered make up case and pencil case. Darren being a musician was greeted with a wooden xylophone and a bizarre piece of wood you hold under your nose to make a sound - haven't tried that out yet, I'm slightly worried the contents of my nose would shoot out! ha.
Thank you to everyone who has voted for me so far in the KIT Cosmetics Design Awards! I am currently in 8th place with 155 votes. So please tell everyone you know to vote for me as there are 14 days left of voting! Thank you! x
Edit: I decided to work on the goldfish bowl and created 2 fish. I think I like this one better:

Take a Look Around
Hello and how are we all? Time seems to fly so fast these days and I was about to write about my weekend just gone even though we are closer to the next! We had a fun filled weekend celebrating Darren's birthday - we wandered around the city on a little food adventure feasting on macarons, chocolates, sushi...basically anything which took our fancy :-)
It's been a great week for features, my illustrations were showcased on the awesome Studio Home who post exclusively on creative talent from Down Under. Jam-packed to the brim with art & design Julia has a great eye for all things inspiring. So thank you for featuring me - it's an honour! I'm one of the Mambo artists and they had a great little write up about their past, present & future of the brand - an interesting read and my name got a mention on TheVine - yay!
Last but not least, a huge thank you to those who have voted for me in the KIT Design Awards - I'm currently in 8th position and there are 18 days left to vote. So please vote for me and tell everyone you know. You could win $500 worth of KIT Cosmetics and get to see my design (seen below) on their new Pomegranate moisuriser! x
