Something to write home about

PhotobucketHello! How are you all? Did you all have a great weekend? This week is already going so quickly, in fact I can't believe I've been married for 1 year - it was our anniversary on Sunday so we decided to treat ourselves to the delicious Vietnamese tasting menu at Luke Nguyen's Red Lantern. I've been a big fan of Luke Nguyen since his first series on SBS where he tours Vietnam cooking in front of beautiful landscapes. In fact our whole weekend was filled with food as we went for High Tea at the MoS cafe. Darren even missed his usual weekend of watching his beloved Hawthorn (AFL team) to celebrate our anniversary...

Last Thursday we also went to the Opera House to watch the Sydney Symphony Orchestra - if you haven't experienced this it's definitely something you should do even if you insist that you don't like classical music. It's really relaxing and it's such an enchanting venue. The Opera House is one of those amazing landmarks that I never get bored of, I see it everyday as I make my commute to work over the Harbour Bridge.

Well I suppose that's all I have been doing recently, eating, working & dodging the monsoon season here in Sydney :-) Tomorrow & Thursday will be my last two classes and I'll have a Diploma in Marketing! What have you all been up to?

Picturing the Weekend

Hello! Here's a montage of photographs taken from the last week. We went on a walk last weekend in a nice leafy park, had breakfast in Newtown, visited Luna Park and drank lots of T2 Earl Grey - gifted to me from my lovely friend Esther. The penultimate photo is a nice little rear view mirror I have stuck to my monitor at work, so I can see anyone lurking behind me! :-)

Totes Rad

Photobucket

Hello! How are we all? Seeing as it is Fashion Week here in Sydney I thought I would channel some kind of fashion blog post...ha. You can probably tell I'm no model by the height & lack of poses and shooting outside when the sun has gone but I wanted to show you all a lovely tote bag gifted to me from Gary Pepper Vintage. It was a school day today (marketing class) so instead of my usual streamlined purse for work, I opted for the tote to take my books/folder/pens. It's a super sturdy bag with the beautiful bird on a cherry blossom motif on the front :-) plus it's only $4.95 so grab yours now!

On the subject of modelling, we had our professional head shots taken at work on Monday which was quite amusing trying to look professional whilst perching on a stool, tilting my head to one side and pointing my shoulders in another direction...no wonder Linda Evangelista said she wouldn't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day!

As you may know I'm originally from England and one of things I miss most about home is TOPSHOP, so this is my recent haul of Topshop goodness - a nice warm knitted mustard cardigan and burgundy accordian skirt which I'm wearing in the photos. I also bought some cute cream booties that have a weaved leather detailing and a nice burnt orange dress - the dress is rather see through so I have to wear a vest and underskirt underneath, but seeing as it is quite chilly in Sydney that's not a problem.

Well there you go, I hope you enjoyed my very first fashion related post :-)

Wiggly Lines for Smiggle

Photobucket
Hello! Here are some squiggly earphones I drew recently for Smiggle's homepage, you can see it live on the site now. I always love illustrating for Smiggle because their briefs are always open for me to interpret. It was quite fun drawing all these squiggly lines that are all jumbled up and intertwined.

The first draft was actually a girl and boy superhero (below) but I had to scrap that idea because it was too similar to creative they will be running in the near future, what a funny coincidence :-) Maybe great creative minds think alike?! I think I'll finish the illustration anyway as I quite enjoyed drawing little superheroes.

Here's the squiggly earphones in all their glory with a bit of symmetry and also a light floral backdrop I created to fill the space between all the wires.

Last but not least, the topic of the day is Osama Bin Laden - having read the coverage online today and seeing some news sites confuse Obama & Osama I thought you would enjoy this little video of a great British comedy called Gavin & Stacey.
