Wiggly Lines for Smiggle

Photobucket
Hello! Here are some squiggly earphones I drew recently for Smiggle's homepage, you can see it live on the site now. I always love illustrating for Smiggle because their briefs are always open for me to interpret. It was quite fun drawing all these squiggly lines that are all jumbled up and intertwined.

The first draft was actually a girl and boy superhero (below) but I had to scrap that idea because it was too similar to creative they will be running in the near future, what a funny coincidence :-) Maybe great creative minds think alike?! I think I'll finish the illustration anyway as I quite enjoyed drawing little superheroes.

Here's the squiggly earphones in all their glory with a bit of symmetry and also a light floral backdrop I created to fill the space between all the wires.

Last but not least, the topic of the day is Osama Bin Laden - having read the coverage online today and seeing some news sites confuse Obama & Osama I thought you would enjoy this little video of a great British comedy called Gavin & Stacey.

This looks absolutely awesome~

May I ask how you manage to grasp these wonderful opportunities? I'd love to be able to do this kind of thing in the near future, its my dream to become a artist/illustrator.

This background is so much more modern to what you usually do~ I love how you can just shift for your demographics~

Gorgeous.

Hello! Thanks for your lovely comment :-)

I see that you're studying art at the moment so that's a good sign you're on the right path. I'm self taught and just really enjoy drawing but uni should help you network & create some artistic opportunities for you.

The advice I would give you/anyone else is draw with your own style and draw what you enjoy. Contact people you want to work with.

Work hard, keep learning and create your own opportunities. Don't be too precious about your work, most clients will ask you to do edits/start again, but that's all part of the fun.

Hope that helps!
