Catfish

Photobucket

It's not often I watch a film that makes me laugh hysterically and wonder in disbelief...for Australia day we escaped to the cool air of the cinema in Newtown to watch Catfish (trailer below). If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend this film. It's a true life doco that follows Nev a talented NY photographer who is sent piles of paintings by an 8 year old artist. who becomes enthralled by his photographs. He gets to know the girl and her family, a romance starts to blossom between Nev & the older half sister...seems too good to be true? Nev's brother & friend are both film makers and decide to document their journey of discovery of his new found friendship with the "facebook family". I won't spoil the plot for you...but it has left me asking lots of questions...go see this film and let me know what you think.

I've yet to watch Blackswan but can't wait to see it, by the looks of the trailers and posters it is dark and captivating, I can see it inspiring some new drawings of mine.

The drawing posted at the start of this post is a work in progress of one of two commissions I have just completed for Smiggle Stationery. I can't wait to show you the completed pieces that are super colourful. The next few weeks will be spent on finishing off some vintage inspired posters filled with text. They are very different to my usual style of drawing but I think a nice change. These posters will complement the walls of a new coffee shop opening in England. Also up my sleeves are a series of illustrations of stereotypes for a magazine and finishing some website building/design projects...it's a good creative start to the year.

I've made a mental note to blog on a more regular basis as it seems to have slowed down in recent times. I wonder what the optimum number of blog posts are per week? If it's too many you may get bored & never return, if it's not enough you may get bored & never return :-) Hello to some new blog followers who I visited recently! Maybe I will post again tomorrow?

Goodbye for now!

haha why did you hate Catfish so much?I guess it's one of those films, some people think it is a fake. I think we will agree on Black Swan though :-)

In regards to mediums I work in ink & pen, sometimes digital, watercolour, acrylics, spraypaint and coloured crayons - a mixture really!

Hi Lisa,
Smiggle's fine liner pens are really good and I also use their mini fountain pens. They're good prices too and cute. Are you an architect?x
